My old life

The day was quite hectic because of pricing negotiations with Rob in NZ.. I had to charge more than 12K NZ for a website and Rob was pissed off.. though the team here still felt that the project was too small to consider. Ganesh, Ramki and Rajesh were asking me questions continuosly and Ganesh expressed the opinion that I might be under-estimating heavily. So I have gotten in touch with PVR to tell him that from now on I will need to know the status of projects to determine if projects are within estimate. Also, I need to download and check out some of the software on Linux such as Slash and ACS to determine if these can be used.

In the evening, I met Pavithra and took her to Marrybrown for a meal. She seemed very sad. She told me later that her parents are divorcing and that she doesn't know what to do. She also told me that she has been very irritatable lately and has therefore rubbed off a lot of people at work the wrong way. I felt very sad and I wish there was something that I could do to help. I have told her that I am around if she needs any help - either for herself or for her brother.

Not much else. The weekend will be quite hectic.

Alwyn left for the US today. I dropped him off at the Airport in the Omni. He is keeping the trip a secret from Anpu so that he can surprise her when he arrives at Green Bay. He told me something quite interesting in the car - I am supposed to take over all the work for pre-sales proposals in muscat, singapore and nz. Don't know quite what to think about this.. I think I will just wait and see. Alwyn also told me that they think I am doing a very good job.. I am not quite so sure but I leave that to God. I want to do a good job and if others think I am doing that - thanks be to God.

I have been fasting on and off since morning. I skipped break fast and lunch but had some coffee .. also had a couple of bananas in the evening.

I am having some money trouble right now since I forgot my pin number for both the HDFC and the ICICI bank accounts and therefore I am left with very little or no money. Also, since I am using the Omni - I am severely strapped for cash. I am hoping to take out a self-checque from ICICI tomorrow to tide over till the new pin numbers arrive.

The day started late. I had a phone call from Titus early in the morning. He had been in Singapore for the past 3 weeks and so he was there when I was in Singapore. He seems to have finally settled the deal with Paul Lancett and he is to get US$ 30,000 as payment with a further US $ 2000 being paid to him as royalty every month. It does seem like a bit much but I am not entirely sure that Paul Lancett will be able to generate enough revenue to pull this off.

I had a few meetings again today - did some work on getting a proposal for a presentation ready. I am also getting a lot of queries from the boys in the "CRACK" team who were formed to do the estimates and the project study in my absence.

I went to uncle Sherry's place in the evening. He had an accident a few weeks back and his Sumo is in bad shape. So he decided to buy a Toyota Qualis. I accompanied him to the showroom where he picked up the Qualis. Personnally, I think that vehicle is a disgrace but he seems to like it.

Other than that from the perspective of what I have set myself to do - I have been thinking of perhaps purchasing some company in the rural areas instead of starting a high end tech firm. I will need to work on some firm which is labour intensive so that I can touch more peoples' lives.

I couldn't post anything yesterday because I was too busy.

As to what happenned yesterday - I managed to go Go Karting with the boys from the Vineyard and generally had a jolly good time.

The more I think about improving the country, the more I am convinced that the first step in the direction would be to setup shop and attempt to improve the standard of living of the employees first. I will need to adopt a small township or a village for setting up shop as well as for building up. The community development initiatives will first need to be tested on this village or township so as to evolve a mechanism, strategy and experience for replicating this across the nation. Also, the first community will serve as a showcase of what can be acheived by good intentions, planning and proper implementation.

So the first step.. Start a company.

The day started off well. Had a good time of worship and praise in the morning. I am feeling much better now following that.

I broke the fast yesterday because I wanted to be in shape to attend the meetings planned for today.. But just the little bit of time that I fasted yesterday has been beneficial and I feel like I am connecting to God better today.

Alwyn called up quite early in the morning to say that I might need to go to the US to do the project management for the Knightrider project.. Rajendran will map the project and do the estimate and I will do the project management. I was pretty worried about this especially since I still haven't recovered from the news about Mitrefinch giving up. But I believe God has a purpose in all this and that He will use my weaknesses for His glory.

People ask me everyday if anything converted in NZ - I am not convinced that these people are asking sincerely hoping that the company will benefit. I believe that there might be ulterior motives involved.. but either way, I praise God for His mercies and I wait for Him to glorify Himself through my life.

Mark has brought his children back home to his house yesterday.. I will need to go and see them today or tomorrow. I have Lakshmi's sisters marriage to attend today.
